Weekend speaker.
6 p.m. Kabbalat Shabbat ser-
vice will be followed by "A
Taste of Sephardic Culture," a
Shabbat dinner for the whole
family featuring Sephardic
sights, sounds, smells and
tastes. Following a program of
storytelling, songs and poetry,
Lazar will discuss "The World
of Sephardic Jewry."
Lazar will speak Saturday
at Shabbat morning services
on "Shabbat and Kabalah" —
an explanation of the
mystical tradition in
Judaism.
There will be a lecture and
slide show on "Marc Chagall:
Painter and Poet" at 8 p.m.
March 31 at the Park West
Gallery in Southfield. The
gallery will display a special
exhibit of Chagall works that
evening. A reception will
follow.
Lazar teaches drama and
comparative literature at the
University of Southern
California. Included among
his works are The Sephardic
Tradition, Modern Israeli
Fbets, and Satan's Synagogue:
The Demonization of the
Jews.
