Erna Herz Erna Herz, 86, of Farm- ington Hills, died March 20. Mrs. Herz was co-founder of Walter Herz Interiors of Detroit. She was a member of Tem- ple Beth El and its sisterhood, a member of Hadassah and a volunteer at the Arnold Home and Northville State Hospital. She leaves daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret H. De- mant of Huntington Woods, Ellen and William Kahn of Franklin; three grand- children and two great-grand- children. Ilene Crane Ilene Virginia Crane, 63, of West Bloomfield, died March 15. Mrs.Crane was a member of Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women.She made records for the blind at Wayne State University. She was a member of the Founders Society of the Louis E. Cohen Louis E. Cohen, 75, of West Bloomfield, died March 15. Mr. Cohen was a service manager of WWJ Radio from 1935 until he retired in 1979. He also worked for WDIV. He was a member of Temple Beth El and was treasurer of the Beth Elders Group. He leaves his wife, Jean- nette; daughters and a son-in- law, Harriet Stone of Southfield, Sue and Gerald Hoffman of Farmington Hills; a brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Lois of West Bloomfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Henry Fridenberg of Oak Park; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Murray Pollack Murray Pollack, 75, of Southfield, died March 17. Mr. Pollack was founder and owner of Youth Centers children's wear from 1948 un- til 1980. He was a member of B'nai B'rith Oakland Cen- tury Lodge and Congregation Beth Achim. He leaves his wife, Mary; sons and daughter-in-law, Fred of Southfield, Edward and Ellen of Southfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Moe Mazer of Livonia, Goldie and Abe Agrest of Delray Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Max Vernon Max Vernon, 100, of Net- anya, Israel, died March 8. Formerly of Detroit, Mr. Vernon owned the Curtis Food Market on Livernois at Curtis. He was a member of Adat Shalom Synagogue and was in charge of the religious library. He moved to Israel in 1969 where he remained ac- tive in synagogue affairs and taught bar mitzvah classes to Soviet immigrants. He leaves daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Philip Shlom of Southfield; daughter Evelyn Sell of Los Angeles; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Interment Israel. During the coming week Yeshiva Beth Yehudah will observe the yahrtzeits of the following departed friends, with the traditional memorial prayers, recitation of kaddish and studying of mishnayos.
