Acting Classes

New York actor Roger
Bechtel, currently starring in
the Attic's production of
Hamlet, will offer a four week
course, "Acting Chekhov,"
through the Attic Theatre
Conservatory. The class will
begin Tuesday, March 20,
from 7-9 p.m.
Bechtel, a graduate of the
Yale School of Drama, has ex-
perience as a Shakespearean
actor, sword-fighter and also
in the plays of Anton
Chekhov, having studied
recently with Oley Gabakov
of the Moscow Arts Theatre.
Also being offered is a
Shakespeare class, taught by
Gordon Reinhart, who is
directing Hamlet, and an im-
provisation class by the attic's
Randi Douglas.

Community Band
Sets 'Marches'

The Farmington Communi-
ty Band presents "Marches,
Marches, Marches!" 3 p.m.
March 25 in the Harrison
High School Auditorium.
The program will include
several marches by tradi-
tional American composers as
well as music from movies
and Broadway shows.

Immigrant:
The
Hamilton County Album, by
Mark Harelik, will receive its
Michigan premiere at
Meadow Brook Theatre 8 p.m.
March 29, running through
April 22 at the theatre on the
Oakland University campus
near Rochester.
The Immigrant is a story
about the author's Jewish
grandparents who arrived in
Texas from Russia in 1909 as
part of an immigrant resettle-
ment program called The
Galveston Plan. With the aid
of a reluctant banker and his
wife, Haskell and Leah
Harelik built a modest
American dream in an
unlikely Southern Baptist
town.
