Barber, Artist in Residence in
a multi facetted show "A
Friend's View of Israel To-
day" March 24-31. The show
will feature paintings, draw-
ings, printh and photographs
of Israel, images and symbols
of people living in difficult
times.
Barber's works are in the
Museum of Modern Art,
Metropolitan Museum of Art
and Yale University.
He will lecture 7:30 p.m.
March 27.
Exhibit Features
Stackhouse
Cantor/Lemberg Gallery in
Birmingham will open an ex-
hibit of new drawings by
Robert Stackhouse on March
24.
Stackhouse is a veteran of
numerous public commis-
sions and solo exhibitions
around the country. He was
invited to represent the
United States in the Sao Palo
Biennial in 1988 and is cur-
rently being shown in a solo
exhibit in the Hololulu
Academy of Arts.

Has Show
The Joy Emery Gallery in
Grosse Pointe Farms will ex-
hibit prints by international
artist Howard Hodgkin
March 23 through April 28.
Hodgkin lives in London.

K.C. Larson Galleries will
open the exhibition "Vien-
nese Secessionist Design,"
March 22. It runs through
April 28.
The exhibition will feature
original pieces of furniture
designed by leaders of the
Viennese Secession, in-
cluding Josef Hoffmann,
Koloman Moser, Otto
Preutscher, Dagobert Peche
and Gustav Siegel.
Seccessionist design played
a role in the development of
early 20th-century Austrian
decorative arts, as many of its
chief exponents were
designers of furniture,
metalwork, glass, and
ceramics. Rising up at the
turn-of-the-century in reac-
tion against the excessive ex-
uberance of Historicism and
Art Nouveau, the Seces-
sionists sought a new style in-
dicative of the new century.
