Nahum Barnea

The Detroit Zionist Federa-
tion will host its 1990
Scholar-in-Residence, award-
winning journalist Nahum
Barnea, who will arrive in
Detroit on March 16. He will
speak to various Jewish and
non-Jewish audiences
through March 25.
Barnea is a political analyst
for Yediot Ahronot and was
editor of Koterit Rashit, an
Israeli magazine. He has been
both the Washington and

Jerusalem correspondent for
Davar and holds a degree in
history and political science
from Hebrew University.

1990s."
Fein's book, Israel, Politics
and People, was a required
text in all Israel universities.
He also is author of "Reform
is a Verb," a study of Reform
congregations, founder of Mo-
ment magazine and Mazon, a
Jewish response to hunger.

Four Hillel Pupils
Win Art Contest

Four Hillel Day School ar-
tists won prizes in the 1990
Solomon Schechter Day
School National Art Contest.
Their winning drawings
were chosen from 650 entries.
First prize went to Rachel
Weiss, daughter of Arthur
and Trudy Weiss, a fifth
grader at Hillel. Her design
and the designs of three other
first prize winners will ap-
pear on notepaper sold by
Solomon Schechter schools.
Honorable mention went to
the drawings of Josh
Goldberg, Philip Rubin, and
Adam Shiorn.. all in the fifth
grade at Hillel.
