Detroit — a pair of Israeli
teenagers will serve as good-
will ambassadors on a three-
week tour of the Detroit area
to encourage dialogue and
greater understanding about
Israeli life among various
constituencies.
The 16-year-old students,
visiting Detroit until March
18, are part of a youth delega-
tion sent by Israel's Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and
Ministry of Education. The
visit will introduce Israel to
American high school
students and acquaint
Americans with the life of
young people in Israel.
Liat Kibari and Asaf Harel
are part of a delegation of 66
Israeli teenagers spending
time in communities
throughout Europe, as well as
North and South America.
They are among eight Israeli
teenagers who will visit the
Midwest as part of this pro-
gram. In addition to their
stay in the Detroit area, the
pair will visit Flint, Mich.,
and Duluth, Minn.
The students will present a
gift to Mayor Coleman Young;
attend several regional high
school news conferences; par-
ticipate in a series of teen
dialogues with the NAACP
Youth Council, Catholic
Youth Organization and the
New Detroit Youth Caucus
and visit the Children's
Hospital of Michigan.
