Council Women
Hold Convention

Nineteen members of the
National Council of Jewish
Women, Greater Detroit Sec-
tion, will represent Detroit at
the NCJW national conven-
tion March 14 to 18.
The local delegation will
join more than 800 other
NCJW members for the
group's 38th national conven-
tion, to be held in St. Louis,
Mo.
"Gateway to the 90s" is the
theme of the four-day
meeting, where delegates will
exchange information about
education, community service
and advocacy and chart the
course of the organization for
the next two years. New na-
tional officers and board
members will be selected.
Greater Detroit Section
President Barbara Grant will
be accompanied at the con-
vention by Carol Sue Coden,
Thn-an Leemis, Helen Shevin,
Penny Blumenstein, Janelle
Miller. Ann Zousmer, Marsha

Sak's Fifth Avenue will pre-
sent show at the 44th annual
Women of Maimonides
Medical Society Donor Day
on March 27, at the Sheraton
Southfield (formerly Michi-
gan Inn).
President Patti Phillips an-
nounces that the program
will begin at 10 a.m. with
boutiques. Lunch will be serv-
ed at noon. Complimentary
babysitting and valet parking
are available. The event is
open to the public.
Fashion designer Oleg
Cassini will appear at the
fashion show. Historians
credit Cassini with numerous
design accomplishments in-
cluding the sheath, the A-line,
the little white collar dress,
the knit, and the military
look for women. With his
designs for Jacqueline Ken-
nedy he achieved interna-
tional acclaim and brought
worldwide attention to
American fashion.
Funds raised at the lun-
cheon provide interest-free
loans for Jewish medical and
osteopathic medical students
in the Detroit area and at the
Hebrew University Medical
School in Israel.
The Women of' Maimonides
Medical Society also supports

Children's Hospital, Jewish
Association of Retarded
Children, Michigan Cancer
Foundation, and the Oakland
County Sub-Regional Library
for the Blind and Physically

Plans Workshop

The Sisterhood of Con-
gregation Beth Shalom will
host its annual Passover
Workshop 10 a.m. March 18
titled "And What Family
Customs, Readings, Music,

Rabbi David Nelson will
present ideas and Cantor
Greenbaum will teach new
tunes. New Passover recipes
will be tasted and distributed.
