REMEMBERING MY-
RON COHEN . . . and his
classic story about the fellow
stopping in at a pet store and
being entranced by a
remarkable bird that was not
only beautiful but spoke eight
languages fluently . . . The
man paid a good round sum
for the bird and asked to have
it delivered to his house .. .
Reaching home at dinner
time that evening, he asked,
"Has the bird come?" . . .
"Yes, dear," his wife replied.
"It's in the oven now" .. .
"What!" he screamed. "In the
oven? Why, that bird could
speak eight languages!" .. .
"So," said the wife, "then why
didn't he say something?"
RECENT VALENTINE'S
Day, one way lovers found to
"unlox" the heart of their
mates was through a special
meal from Ciralsky's
Delicatessen in Chicago that
featured smoked salmon and
a rose.
The specially prepared box,
which was delivered to one's
lover, included two oversized,
freshly baked bagels or
bialys, accompanied by hand-
sliced lox or Nova Scotia
salmon and cream cheese,
garnished with lettuce,
tomato and onions . . . A rose
came with each order . . . Cost
of the special meal was
$19.95.
TWO MEN wandered into
the Fox and Hounds on Wood-
ward for dinner and ordered
the most expensive dish and
the finest champagne . . .
They looked well groomed but
didn't have two nickels to rub
together . . . When the bill
came, one said, "Let's split
the check — you wash and I'll
