RKLEY FLOWER SHOP::: : : NEWS I Israeli Arabs Anti-Aliyah Shfaram (JPFS), — Some Israeli Arabs have added their voices to the Arab pro- tests over the wave of Soviet Jewish immigration. Umm el-Fahm Mayor Sheikh Ra'ed Salah called for immigration to Israel to be stopped. He suggested that Israeli Arabs should send a delega- tion to the Soviet Union, to other Eastern European countries and to the UN to "highlight the problems" caused by Soviet Jewish immigration and press for it to cease. Ra'ad Salah charged that the influx of new immi- grants would harm Israeli Arabs, as well as the peace process. He repeated his comments later at a mass demonstration in Haifa, earning widespread ap- plause from the protesters. He told the crowd the econ- omic crisis affecting the country would worsen be- cause of the expected influx of immigrants. Israeli Arabs, already suf- fering from discrimination and a higher-than-average unemployment rate, would bear the brunt of any cut- backs to pay for absorbing and accommodating the im- migrants and providing them with jobs, he said. The influx of immigrants was also harming the pro- spects of peace, said Salah, adding that Israeli Arabs could not ignore the "suffering of our Palestinian brethren in territories." Israel Rejects `Citizen' Pollard Tel Aviv (JTA) — The Israeli government has re- jected a request by an ad hoc coalition of Knesset factions to grant honorary Israeli citizenship to convicted spy Jonathan Pollard. Deputy Interior Minister Rafael Pinhasi told the Knesset Interior Committee the government ruled against citizenship for Pollard after consulting with Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir and other ministers. He said Pollard's situation would not be improved by making him an Israeli citizen. The petition on behalf of Pollard was submitted by Knesset members Edna Solodar of the Labor Party, Pinhas Goldstein of Likud, Shlomo Dayan of Shas and Geula Cohen of the opposi- tion Tehiya party. Fox, Licensed Realtor OVERPRICING CAN BE COSTLY QUESTION: Several REAL- TORS have told me that my house is overpriced by about 203/4 and, in the long run, could cost me money. How can this be? ANSWER: Because over- pricing stops buyers from con- sidering your home. No matter how much is spent on advertis- ing, an overpriced home will not sell. Prime prospects who should have bought, have gone elsewhere to buy. When a home remains unsold too long, interest stops because buyers become wary. Eventu- ally your house will sell, but for less than you could have realized had you priced it real- istically. Use extreme caution in pricing your house more than 5 percent above its market value.
