Theater tickets, jewelry and clothing were some of the items auctioned. Fierce bidders Joey and Sara Bricker were able to purchase a side of beef donated by Morris Flatt. Some of the people who braved the storm to attend the auction include: Chuck and Raselle Snow, Sandy and Larry Singal, Ruvi and Shelley Singal, Michael and Miriam Carmen, Sylvan and Sandra Stern and Joe and Adele Gittleman. Steve Cohen was the auctioneer. FOUND FAMILY Vivian Smargon was casually reading the Detroit Free Press when she saw a photograph of a man who resembled her father. "I did a double take," Smargon said. When she saw that his name was Smorgonsky, she knew he must be a relative. Vivian and her husband, Gerald Cole arranged to meet Leonid and Marina Smorgonsky at Temple Beth El. After a phone call to the Soviet Union, they believe their great- grandfathers were brothers. The Smargons have now adopted their real cousins, the Smorgonskys. FAMILY HAFTARA Almost the entire Brown family will be on the bima at Congregation B'nai Moshe on March 17, except Dr. Eli Brown, but he will be especially proud. Dr. Brown's wife Estelle will share the haftara with daughters Barbara B. Smith and Jacqueline M. Rosenblatt. A granddaughter will lead the singing of the Ashrei.
