March 16-17 is The Plot
Against Harry, an odyssey
about ex-con Harry Plotnik,
who finds himself up against
mobsters, Congressional in-
vestigators, a vengeful wife, a
kosher caterer and a blocked
colon.
On March 18, the DFT will
present the restored version
of the 1962 low-budget cult
horror classic, Carnival of
Souls.
On March 23-24, Queen of
Hearts, the 1989 film by
English director Jon Amiel,
will be presented. This is a
dreamlike, comic version of
three generations of an
Italian family transported to
England.
On March 25, The Dybbuk,
a 1937 film by Polish director
Michal Waszynski, will be
screened. This Yiddish-
language, restored film is an
adaptation of S. Ansky's tale
of predestined love and
possession from beyond the
grave.
And the Oscar-nominated
film Camille Claudel has an
exclusive area engagement at
the DFT March 30-April 1.
This is the story of the com-
plex, obsessive relationship
between the great sculptor
Auguste Rodin (Gerald
Depardieu) and his pupil,
Camille Claudel (Isabelle
Adjani).

of Arts continues its seven-
teenth season in March with
a lineup of film offerings.
On March 2-4, Mystery
Train, an engaging, bizarre,
ironic trilogy of comic tales
centered in a rundown Mem-
phis hotel will be screened.
On March 9-11, Weapons of
the Spirit has an exclusive
engagement at the OFT. This
is a true story of a French
village of 5,000 Protestants
who risked their lives hiding
5,000 Jews during World War

will make its first foray into
the world of grand classical
ballet with its debut presen-
tation of the Cleveland
Ballet's production of Peter Il-
yich Tchaikovsky's Swan
Lake March 8 at 11 a.m. (stu-
dent matinee), March 9 (open-
ing night) and 10 at 8 p.m.
and March 11 at 2 and 7:30
p.m.

Nahat and is based upon the
1895 version by Lev Ivanov
and Marius Petipa.

Kaleidoscope
Slates Kottler

Pianist Mischa Kottler will
perform 3:30 p.m. March 11
at St. Hugo's of the Hills in
Bloomfield Hills as part of
Kaleidoscope Concerts.
Russian-born, Mischa Kot-
tler, came to Detroit in 1931
and performed a 'Ibhaikovsky
Piano Concerto in Orchestra
Hall under Gabrilovitch and
later performed the
Rachmaninoff Piano Concer-
to No. 3.
Kottler made Detroit his
home and became musical
director of WWJ Radio and
WWJ T.V. He also organized
the chamber group with
Mischa Mishakoff, Joseph
Gingold and Georges Mi-
quelle which later became the
Chamber Music Society of
Detroit.
At 91, Kottler continues to
perform.

performing an opera frag-
ment of Romeo and Juliet,

'Tempest' Opens
At Bonstelle

The Tempest, one of
William Shakespeare's late
romances, opens at the
Bonstelle Theatre 8 p.m.
March 2, for a two-weekend
run.
The play centers around
Prospero, who, with the help
of his spirit-like assistant
Ariel and deformed slave
Caliban, masters the native
magic of the island where he
lives with his daughter
Miranda.
