Hears Jim Lyons

The League of Jewish
Women's Organizations and
the League of Catholic
Women will hold their 16th
annual joint meeting at 12:30
p.m. March 1, at Congrega-
tion Beth Shalom.
The Reverend James R.
Lyons will be the featured
speaker. Rev. Lyons, founder
and director of the
Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish Christian Studies, is
known for his publications
and lectures involving the
Holocaust and Christian-
Jewish relations. He will
speak on "Learning from the
Past to Build the Future."
There is a charge.

Livonia Women
Plan Seder

The Livonia Jewish Con-
gregation Sisterhood will
hold a Tu B'Shevat seder at 8
p.m. Feb. 27, at the
synagogue.
The theme will be
"Celebrating the New Year of
Trees." Refreshments will be
served. There is no charge.

Panel Discussion
For B of P Group

The Business and Profes-
sional Branch of National
Council of Jewish Women —
Greater Detroit Section will
meet 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the
NCJW office. The evening
will begin with dinner follow-
ed by a business session and
the presentation.
The presentation, "Don't
Let the Gold Tarnish," will be
a panel discussion on aging
with Judy Samson as the
moderator. Samson is involv-
ed with the Institute of
Retired Jewish Professionals
and is the program developer
at the Jewish Community
Center.

Adat Shalom Group
Plans For Purim

Adat Shalom Sisterhood
will hold the Sonia Knopper
Purim Outreach Luncheon at
11:30 a.m. March 5 at Adat
Shalom.
The Sisterhood will bring
Jewish men and women from
the inner city to share a
Purim lunch and program.
The visitors will also have a
tour of the synagogue's Shiff-
man Chapel.
Adat Shalom Nursery
School youngsters will put on
a musical program. In addi-

tion, 31 eighth grade Hillel
Day School students will be
helping to serve and distri-
bute shalach manot gifts that
they have collected for the
visitors.
The program has been nam-
ed in memory of synagogue
member Sonia Knopper, who
was committed to helping the
isolated Jews of the inner city.

Beth Shalom Group
Plans Workshop

The sisterhood of Congrega-
tion Beth Shalom will hold its
annual Passover workshop at
10 a.m. March 18, at the
synagogue.
Rabbi David M. Nelson will
lead the workshop. Cantor
Samuel Greenbaum will
teach new Passover songs.
Passover recipes will be
available for tasting, with
printouts to take home.

Galilee Women
Host Speaker

Galilee B'nai B'rith Women
will host an "Evening With
Irwin Cohen" at 7:30 p.m.
