BBYO Members
Plan Programs
When the BBYO program-
ming year ends in June, near-
ly 1,000 local members will
attend five summer
programs.
Drawing from members in
North America and world-
wide, BBYO's programs last
from the two-week long
Chapter Leadership Training
Conference in Wisconsin to
six weeks in Israel to a com-
bined eight-week Interna-
tional Leadership Kallah/In-
ternational Leadership Train-
ing Conference/International
Convention in Pennsylvania.
All summer programs are
supervised by trained staff
members. Each program
follows professionally
developed curricula and an
array of services are available
for each camp and in Israel
for the Israel Summer
Institute.
Each participant must have
completed the ninth grade by
the time his/her program
begins. Israel Summer In-
stitute participants must be
15 years old by the date of
departure.
Summer programs include:
The Chapter Leadership
Training Conference, a two-
week leadership camp de-
signed for the AZA and BBG
member who hopes to move
into officer positions and is in-
terested in leading. It teaches
how to organize the chapter,
how to develop programs, and
how to succeed in member-
ship motivation. Session I
will begin July 2, and end Ju-
ly 15. Session II will begin Ju-
ly 17, and end July 30. Ses-
sion III will begin Aug. 1, and
end Aug. 14. CLTC is held at
B'nai B'rith Beber Camp in
Mukwonogo, Wisconsin, two
hours north of Chicago.
The International Leader-
ship Kallah will help AZA
and BBG members ask the
questions before offering ap-
propriate answers through
programs and activities. Par-
ticipants will probe what be-
ing Jewish means. The
Kallah is a personal ex-
perience in a group setting. It
is designed for high school
students. Kallah is held at
B'nai B'rith Perlman Camp
in Starlight, Pennsylvania.
Kallah will begin June 27,
and end July 25.
The International Leader-
ship Training Conference
(ILTC) is a second step for
BBYO summer program go-
ers. ILTC will offer leadership
skills and exploration of
Jewish values and BBYO con-
cerns. ILTC will be held at the
B'nai B'rith Perlman Camp
in Starlight, Pennsylvania.
ILTC will begin July 25 and
end Aug. 15.
The International Conven-
tion (IC) will take place the
week following ILTC in
August. Any member of
BBYO may attend and
delegates are chosen at the
regional level. IC takes place
at B'nai B'rith Perlman
Camp in Starlight,
Pennsylvania.
The Israel Summer In-
stitute (ISI) will offer a 40-day
trip. Participants will com-
bine touring, seminars and
exposure to Israel's lifestyle.
Accommodations will include
youth hostels, hotels and dor-
mitories. ISI will include
working on a collective settle-
ment, and home hospitality
with Israeli BBYOers and
families. The trip will offer:
Sea to Sea, — a trip from
the Banias to the Red Sea,
teaching about Israel's water-
ways and their importance.
ISI Archaeology — the past
through artifacts, including
five days on an archaeological
dig.
ISI Great Outdoors, — walk-
ing trails, sleeping under the
stars, exploring Israel.
Groups depart during the
last 10 days in June and
return during the first 10
days in August. Deadline for
applicants for a national
scholarship is March 1. Other
applicants have a May 10
deadline.
