I NEWS I No Case Found Against Weizman's PLO Ties Jerusalem (JTA) — At- torney General Yosef Harish has found insufficient evidence to bring a case against Ezer Weizman, who was removed from the Inner Cabinet last month because of his alleged contacts with the Palestine Liberation Organization. Harish announced his con- clusion after studying the results of a police investiga- tion into the activities of Weizman, who is minister of science and development. Weizman, a Laborite who has long advocated negotia- tions with the Palestinians, including the PLO, said he is gratified by the attorney general's decision, but didn't comment further. The Likud-Labor unity co- alition government was bad- ly shaken when Shamir an- nounced without warning at a Jan. 1 Cabinet meeting that he was firing Weizman because of his sustained con- tact with the PLO. Shamir alleged that the former air force commander and one- time defense min- ister briefed PLO leaders on how to respond to Israeli and American diplomatic moves. Angry Laborites threaten- ed to break up the govern- ment. But a compromise was quickly reached, whereby Weizman was forced to 32605 Bellvine Trail Beverly Hills, Michigan 48010 resign from the 12-member Inner Cabinet, the govern- ment's top policy-making body, while retaining the science portfolio. Shamir made clear, however, that he hoped Weizman eventually would be forced to leave the government altogether. The three-judge panel found no merit in Zundel's appeal, which claimed he was being punished for holding certain political views. It found "irresponsible and reprehensible" the charge by defense attorney Douglas Christie that the judge who presided at Zundel's trial was personally biased against him. Zundel, who operated a print shop in Toronto, was the center of a massive neo- Nazi propaganda ring that circulated hate material worldwide.
