chestra Bassoon Quartet
3:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the
Edsel and Eleanor Ford

Drive, Grosse Pointe Shores.
The program consists of
music from Lawrence
Singer's "Audizione" to the
rags of Scott Joplin.
Members of the quartet
are Robert Williams, Vic-
toria King, Paul Ganson and
Lyell Lindsey.

Demus (Feb. 16), the Oak-

Gunther Herbig
Returns To DSO

Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra Music Director Gun-
ther Herbig returns to the
podium for six weeks of con-
certs beginning Feb. 16.
Since moving to the
United States in 1984 to
become DSO music director,
Herbig has appeared as
guest conductor with the
New York Philharmonic,
Chicago Symphony, Boston
Symphony and Los Angeles
Philharmonic.

chestra's big band music 8

The 12-person group
recreates dance bands of the
