Soft sofas, chairs, spacious surroundings of sheer delight in the living room-style lounge concept developed at Compri Hotel. Even an initimate bar with marble top and small meeting room available for guests without charge. The unusual Compri Club overlooking an outside patio area looks like the lobby of a sumptuous hotel with its tall, round floor-to-ceiling columns . . . yet is not a lobby. A small kitchen serves breakfast Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. . . . Dinners all seven days are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. . . . Its Polo Club restaurant and lounge is now a nightclub featuring live entertainment. Some of the seating in the Polo Club has been removed for a dance floor and live band entertainment . . . Now ap- pearing is the five-piece Noveuate group with top 40 hits, standards and 60s dance music, Tuesday through Saturdays. Seasons Cafe (previously Benchmark) is the hotel's upscale dining spot with prices ranging from moderate to high and the ambiance ex- cellent as before, as tables look out over a garden walkway and pond. Ginger's Eatery is the hotel's all-day dining outlet . . . with casual atmosphere and contemporary selections. Lively gathering spot for daytime sporting events, after-work relaxation or nighttime dancing is called Nickels Lounge, former Dewey's and Red Parrot locale . . . Nine Mile east of Southfield (former Southfield Hilton) has They're Playing Our Song running Friday and Saturday eves through February, with a special Feb. 14 Valentine's Day performance. It's by Days Hotel and Taps Ltd. (Theatre Arts Produc- tions) with dinner at 7:30 p.m. and show 9 p.m. For lunch, don't forget that Loophole's Restaurant in Days Hotel has turkey- burgers. MAIL DEPT.. . . "My hus- band made a reservation in a non-smoking area for two peo- ple at the Golden Mushroom. Upon arrival we were inform- ed that the only table available for us was in a smoking section. We told them this was unacceptable because I am asthmatic and irritated by smoke. Manage- ment stated that presently no one was smoking. Still, they would not guarantee the next seating would remain a non- smoking section. The reply was, those patrons have just been served their entree and the tables would be occupied at least an additional hour. We asked why they accepted our reservation for non- smoking and did not save a table in that section. Their response was, you may re-
