Jerusalem (JTA) — Over
170 delegates from 30
nations, including the
Soviet Union and newly
democratizing East bloc
nations, attended the Inter-
national Conference on Jew-
ish Media here earlier this
month. They were joined by
more than 150 Israeli and
resident foreign cor-
respondents to the general
media.
The conference at the
Hyatt Regency Hotel was
sponsored by the World
Zionist Organization,
together with the Jewish
Agency, the Jerusalem Post,
the Israeli Government
Press Office, the Ministries
of Tourism and Foreign Af-
fairs and Keren Hayesod. It
was the largest gathering of
Jewish journalists ever to
assemble for an interna-
tional conference.
Gary Rosenblatt, editor of
the Detroit Jewish News and
vice-president of the Ameri-
can Jewish Press Associ-
ation, headed a 40-member
delegation from the United
States and Canada.
Robert Cohn, editor in
chief of the St. Louis Jewish
Light, was elected to a se-
cond term as president of the
IJMA, which was created in
1987. Other officers include
Susan Bures, Australia;
Marc Klein, U.S.; Joy Wolfe,
Britain; Haim Musicant,
France; Werner Kroll,
Argentina; Nechemia
Meyers, Israel; Yossi
Abramowitz, Israel; Milton
Winston, Canada, vice pres-
ident; and Leah Chase, U.S.,
secretary-treasurer.
