The Livonia Lunch and
Learn, started by Aish
HaTorah two weeks ago, will
meet every Monday from
12 p.m.-1 p.m.
This Lunch and Learn is for
Jews who work in the
Plymouth, Novi and Livonia
areas. It is hosted by McCaf-
frey's Office Products, 33115
Plymouth Road, corner of
Plymouth and Farmington. A
deli lunch is provided.
Rabbi Tolwin, Aish
HaTorah's Educational Direc-
tor is teaching the program.
Aish HaTorah/Aleynu will
be running Hebrew Crash
Courses for those who want to
learn Hebrew in various loca-
tions in the northwest subur-
ban area in early March.
The course, co-sponsored by
the National Jewish Out-
reach Program in New York,
is free of charge.
The Aish HaTorah/Aleynu
Lunch and Learn, which is
hosted by the Jewish News,
will start studying Talmud,
using Steinsaltz's translation.
The class runs from 12 p.m.
to 1 p.m. and is open to
anyone. There is no fee. Initial
classes will cover an
historical methodological in-
troduction to Talmud and
basic Talmudic concepts.

Judaica Weekend
Scheduled Feb. 23

Detroit area Jewish high
school youth may attend the
second annual Robert Ian
Kornwise Judaica Weekend
Feb. 23-25 at Camp Maas in
Ortonville.
This event will encompass
social, recreational, educa-
tional and religious program-
ming. It is for Jewish teens
regardless of their temple or
synagogue affiliation.
The weekend includes pro-
grams entitled "Responding
to Anti-Semitism" and "Fill-
ing Our world with Mitzvot."
Conservative, Reform, Or-
thodox and Reconstructionist
leaders throughout the com-
munity will participate.
The event has been organiz-
ed by leaders of chapters of
Greater Detroit United
Synagogue Youth, AZA/BBG,
Michigan Stae Temple Youth,
Hillel Day School, Communi-
ty Jewish High School, the
National Council of
Synagogue Youth and Young
Judea. Among the scheduled
activities are discussion
groups, outdoor recreation
and an interactive theatrical
program with Sally Fox of
Columbus, Ohio.

The weekend is being coor-
dinated by the Agency for
Jewish Education Communi-
ty Jewish High School. It is
co-sponsored by chapters of
GDUSY, the B'nai B'rith
Youth Association, AJE,
MSTY, Hillel, NCSY and
Young Judea. It will be sub-
sidized by the Robert Ian
Kornwise Fund of Adat
Shalom Synagogue, which
was established last year by
Maureen and Sanford Korn-
wise in memory of their son,
Robert.
The youth will be bussed to
Camp Maas from the United
Hebrew Schools building on
Feb. 23 and will return
Feb. 25.
There are a limited number
of spaces available. For infor-

at the Agency for Jewish

Hebrew Language
Courses Offered

Registration is open for
courses being offered at the
Midrasha-College of Jewish
Studies, a division of the
Agency for Jewish Education.
All courses in Hebrew
language and literature begin
Feb. 7, and are held at the
United Hebrew Schools
building. Nira Lev will teach
Hebrew from the advanced
beginner's level to advance
Hebrew language and litera-
ture. Beginner's level Hebrew
language courses will be
taught by Hebrew language
instructors Ruth Maroko and
Ahuva Newman. All Hebrew
language courses meet for 16
weeks for 2 hours per session.
Courses in Hebrew reading
are being offered at the begin-
ning and advanced levels and
will be taught by Hebrew
language instructor Geri
Levit. These courses meet for
eight and nine weeks for two
hours per session.
