Machon L'Torah
Plans Discussion

Rabbi Avraham Jacobovitz,
director of Machon L'Torah,
the Jewish Learning Network
of Michigan, will lead a ses-
sion of JudaiCollege with 'a
lecture entitled: "Aaron and
Moses, A Leadership of
`Tough Love', " at 7:30 p.m.
Feb. 6 at the Machon Learn-
ing Center.
There is no charge. For in-
formation, call the Machon of-

Mrs. Bayla Jacobovitz, of
Machon L'Torah, will lecture
on "The need for poetic ex-
pression," an overview of the
Torah portion dealing with
"Shirat Hayam," which is the
song that the Jewish people
recited at the time of the
crossing of the Red Sea.
The lecture will be held at
the home of Betty Rose
Eisenberg Feb. 5 at 23400
Riverview in Southfield. For

Midrasha, Temple
To Hold Classes

Temple Emanu-El and the
Midrasha-College of Jewish
Studies are co-sponsoring a
series of courses which will
meet on Mondays for four con-
secutive weeks beginning
Feb. 5.
Rabbi Lane Steinger of
Temple Emanu-El will teach
a course entitled "The
American Jewish Ex-
perience" from 7-8 p.m. Rab-
bi Steinger will discuss
Jewish life in America —
where the American Jewish
community has been, where
is it now and where it is
headed.
Rabbi David Feder of Tem-
ple Emanu-El will teach a
course entitled, "Wisdom of
the Ages through the Eyes of
the Sages" at 8 p.m. Rabbi
Feder will explore how Jewish
tradition uses our Torah as a
basis for determining a way of
life.
Mashey Bernstein, the
Midrasha scholar-in-
residence, will teach "Jews in
Film." Bernstein will ex-
amine the ways Jews have
been portrayed in Hollywood
movies from the 1920s and up
to the modern era. This
course will meet from 8 p.m.
to 9 p.m.
All courses meet at Temple
Emanu-El and are open to the

Akiva Pre-School
Plans Open House

Akiva Hebrew Day School
has set Feb. 13 for its Nursery
Open House and Feb. 28 for
its Kindergarten Open
House.
Parents seeking informa-
tion about either program can
visit on those evenings to
hear about the pre-school
classes and tour its facilities.
Akiva pre-school "programs
include Parent-Toddler, On
My Own, nursery classes and
kindergarten.
