not traditional. Often, there are
asymetrical bodices, winged sleeves or
pointed peplums. Some are sexy,
while others have layers of ruffles with
a Spanish or Italian influence.
Some gowns in the Ilissa line are
equally dramatic. Many have illusion
necklines accented with beads on a
Basque waistline with a full skirt and
cathedral train. The dressy silk and
organza fabrics complement the im-
ported lace.
Demetrios is noted for his im-
ported Italian lace. He calls the lace
"Milano." "I made it, and now

everyone is using it." The lace details
in the backs of his gowns are
sometimes just as dramatic as the
fronts.
When Demetrios is not design-
ing, he is busy advertising and
marketing the gowns. Every year he
publishes a color catalog of his gowns
in an 180-page glossy book. Not on-
ly does he decide which photos to
publish, he accompanies a bevy of
models on a three-month yacht ex-
pedition to Greece and Italy. The
photographer captures the models
against the backdrop of the Greek
Isles. This year, Demetrios wants to
include this book in a national
magazine.
Demetrios is always thinking
fashion. "I travel. I look at the street
(fashions). I like to make what the
customer likes." His creative juices are
always flowing.
A recent advertisement in Bride's
magazine sums up Demetrios' beliefs
on designing: "For the bride who has
a long-cherished vision: a shining mo-
ment, an extraordinary gown, stun-
ning in its opulence and drama. We
make her dream a reality."
