I LOCAL NEWS I JCCouncil Sets Slate Nominations Jewish Community Council president Paul D. Borman an- nounced the appointment of Fred Frank as chairperson of the 1990 nominating committee. Frank and committee members Penny Blumens- tein, Laurence Deitch, Zina Kramer, Evelyn Noveck, Kathleen Strauss and Joel Shere will form a slate of can- didates to fill Council officer and board of directors posi- tions. Six officer candidates and eighteen board can- didates are to be selected. The slate will be announc- ed in March, and will stand for election at the May meeting of Council's delegates. Organizational representatives and other in- dividuals may suggest can- didates for the nominating committee to consider by writing to Fred Frank, 163 Madison Avenue, Detroit 48226, before Feb. 16. Federation Group Hosts Speaker Mariusz Ziomecki, member of the Detroit Free Press editorial board, will discuss "The Changing World of Eastern Europe" at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1, at the Franklin River Apartments Clubhouse, spon- sored by the Jewish Welfare Federation Young Adult Divi- sion Political Awareness Com- mittee.
