1st EMU Hillel Award
Going To Coach Braun
Ben Braun, coach of the
Eastern Michigan Univer-
sity men's basketball team,
will receive the first EMU
Hillel Award for his efforts
in behalf of both students
and student-athletes.
The award will be
presented in the Ypsilanti
school's Bowen Field House
prior to the 8 p.m. tipoff of
the Jan. 24 game with Cen-
tral Michigan University.
Established in 1989, the
award recognizes an EMU
student or faculty or staff
member "for outstanding
contributions to intergroup
relations and international
understanding," according
to Michelle Blumenberg,
EMU's B'nai B'rith Hillel
Extension director.
"Coach Braun has con-
sistently supported students
and student-athletes, in ma-
terial and spiritual ways, in
achieving their highest
academic and personal
aspirations," Blumenberg
said.
"On campus, he stresses
academics before anything
else, and promotes minority
interests of all sorts," she
said. "He guides those that
