Call For Truth Demolishes Nazism's Big Lie
PHILIP SLOMOVITZ

ean-Claude Pressac
was a year old when
World War II ended. In-
terrupting his services in the
French army he pursued his
studies to become a phar-
macist. Then he fell into the
trap of the so-called revi-
sionists and he began to
believe in their propaganda
that the Holocaust really was
a hoax perpetrated by Jews
for the purpose of acquiring
sympathy in their anti-
Nazism. He also had a desire
to write a novel and instead
turned to researching the ac-
cusations of the revisionists.
The results of his studies,
which have led to the
demolishing of "the Big Lie"
which commenced with Adolf
Hitler himself and continues
in an inhuman lack of com-
passion which makes revi-
sionism a partner of Nazism
seeking to subvert the truth.
Elevated to entry on the
scene of Pressac is the
courageous team of Beate and
Serge Klarsfeld who have
established the Klarsfeld
Foundation with head-
quarters in Paris and a
branch office in New York.
Pressac had the ambition to
write a novel. Instead, in the
doubts created in him by the
pro-Nazi propaganda, he
turned to the Auschwitz
challenge. He took 10 tours of
Auschwitz-Birkenau from
1979 to 1983. From these
j

trips emerged a documentary
of 573 pages, an immense
work which is certain to be
the most significant in
human history both exposing
the crimes and leading to
perpetuating the truth about
the horror. His Auschwitz —
Technique and Operation of
the Gas Chambers already ac-
quires domination in the
Holocaust over the literally
thousands of accounts already
published during the last 45
years.
The Klarsfelds encouraged
Pressac to pursue the
research and he spent two
long visits in Auschwitz-
Birkenau, studying the
frightfully constructed death
camps. The disturbing facts
are revealed in the record of
his studies that took into the
account the charges by the
revisionists and ignoring the
shameful treatment of the
millions of sufferers in the
Nazi inferno.
The multiple details in the
descriptions provided by
Pressac, the hundreds of
photographs, the scores upon
scores of architectural draw-
ings all lead to the refutation
of the revisionist charges that
this could not have been ac-
complished as claimed by the
eyewitnesses, the survivors
from Auschwitz.
The evil-minded who even
denied that there were Nazi
gas chambers are spreading
the lie that there could not
have been such extensive
ovens and approaches to them
in which the more than a
million perished. Pressac
utilized architectural draw-
ings by German architects
and contractors who were the
builders of the death camps.
Therefore the author of this
immense work has produced
in his researched results the
actual data of how the Nazi
planners had created the
means for wholesale murders.
Thus, technical data and
specifications are revealed as
having been used for poison
gas in the crematoria
manufacturers' instructions.
That's how the evidence of
eyewitnesses is confirmed in
the factual Pressac studies.
Therefore, Pressac now
declares, in his summations,
that he has become "in-
noculated for life against any
form of totalitarian systems?'
The Pressac volume is not
easy to handle. Its weight is
some 12 pounds and its ex-
traordinary size — 12 inches
by 18 inches — demands
power not only to handle the
great book but especially to
have the heart and mind to
absorb the facts — the truth
— about the horrifying in-
humanities which the
heartless and mindless would
deny. It is the monumental
documentation that is
already destined to be the
evidence of guidance against
the big lie that had been the
motto of Adolf Hitler himself
and had become the revi-
sionist falsehood.
Pressac's Auschwitz was
translated from the French by
Peter Moss.
The important volume com-
mences with a declaration by
the Auschwitz State Museum,
signed by director Kazimierz
Smolen, acknowledging
Pressac's research activities
at the camps.
There is a tragic note on the
prefactory page in which
Presac states "Thaddeusz
Iwaszko died in a car accident
on 2 December 1988 at
Legnicia in Poland. Without
him this study would neither
have been undertaken nor
completed. His help was
selfless and unfailing. I would
like to thank him publicly by
dedicating my book to him."
In the history-dominating
Auschwitz — the Technique
and Operation of the Gas
Chamber there are accompa-
nying factors that arouse
hopes of further research
related to the entire matter of
the Holocaust. Beate
Klarsfeld and her husband,
Serge, in their life's dedica-
tion to the exposing of the
guilty and bringing them to
justice, took into account the
actions of the world powers
and their failures to pursue
the prosecutions.
The Klarsfeld statement in
behalf of the Beate Klarsfeld
Foundation, called attention
to the Nuremberg Trials and
the interruption of action to
expose and punish the arch
barbarians. It expresses a
hope that under Mikhail Gor-
bachev there will be a pur-
suance of such tasks.
In the Klarsfelds' com-
mitments to the tasks of
unearthing the facts is a

having provided relief for suf-
ferers from two world wars
and as pioneers in state-
building that is glorified as
Israel. There were among us
the seriously concerned in
healing the sufferings caused
by Jewish delinquency. They
are not to be forgotten.
Fred M. Butzel was among
the most eminent in that field
among all races and faiths in
Detroit. His accomplishments
on behalf of the Boys Republic
were mentioned on this page
some time ago.
The death last month of
Judge Nathan Kaufman pro-
vided a reminder about him as
one whose tasks in attacking
juvenile delinquency drew na-
tional attention. His obituary
listed a score of achievements
in several Michigan courts,
reaching the highest in the
state. It was a judge of the
Juvenile Court to which he
was named by Governor G.
Mennen Williams that he
showed his concerns and com-
passion. It was in that court
that he set paths for parents
and children to find reconcilia-
tion. It was in that capacity
that he helped restore faith in
family life.
It was at that time that he
introduced the televised court
and as judge in the hundreds
of cases conducted on the air
that he gained national ac-
claim. Similar courts
established since then, 40
years ago on TV, were pattern-
ed after his.
He had related to us about
much else that he did for the
youth. Some who had ac-
quired large sums from un-
wise parents as "spending
money" turned to gambling.
He consulted their school
principals and teachers in
search for ways to overcome
the vice. Judge Kaufman con-
fided that he discovered the
existence of homosexuality
among some youth when he
labored with them. He was
always compassionate. This is
occasion also to recall that
Judge Nathan Kaufman had
many important roles in the
religious community. He
presided at numerous cam-
paign dinners of the Council of
Orthodox Rabbis and gave
him support and encourage-
ment to Yeshiva University.
He had a deep interest in Bar-
Ilan University and he could
justly be called a leader in the
Orthodox community.
Many honors were accorded
him. The one he may have
cherished the most is the
Judge Nathan Kaufman
Library established in his
name by Congregation Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses. The
testimonial address delivered
in his honor by Leonard N.
Simons gave earned commen-
dation to a man who was
highly respected in the
judiciary, in labor ranks, as
an activist in religious and
Judge Kaufman
educational movements, and
as a TV personality.
Who would deny that he
popularized the name Kauf-
man? In earlier years a Mur-
phy could not be defeated.
Then it became a Kaufman,
thanks to Nathan Kaufman.
The Kaufmans have provid-
ed dignity to the courts in
which they served and to their
names. ❑
