OBITUARIES Eve Wallace Eve Erusall Wallace, 89, of Bloomfield Hills, died Jan. 11. Mrs. Wallace was a charter member of the Women's Association for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Greater Detroit Motion Picture and Mr. Canvasser was also a flight instructor with the Naval Air Corps during World War II. He leaves his wife Jocelyn; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Milford Nemer of Franklin; sons and a daughter-in-law, Leonard and Deena of Bloomfield Hills, Paul of Birmingham; his mother, Minnie of Southfield; mother-in-law, Marian Galin; sisters and a brother-in-law, Rita and Jerome Keywell and Betty Gold; and four grandchildren. Isadore Starr Eve Wallace Television Council and the Detroit League Children's Asthmatic Research Hospital, which later merged into Na- tional Jewish Hospital. She was secretary and editor of Monthly Bulletin for 25 years, a 60-year member of Temple Beth El and Sisterhood, a founding member of the Music Study Club of Detroit and member of the Choral Group. Mrs. Wallace was also a charter member of the Sinai Hospital Guild, Women's American ORT, National Council of Jewish Women and Women's Committee- Brandeis University. She leaves daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy and Stanley Winkelman of Bloomfield Hills and Barbara Leeds of Pompano Beach, Fla.; sisters, Ida Siden of California and Mildred Perlis of Southfield; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Darwin Canvasser Darwin "Del" Canvasser, 68, of West Bloomfield, died Jan. 16. Mr. Canvasser was presi- dent of State Plumbing and Heating Supplies and had been in business for 50 years in Detroit. He was a past officer of the Wholesale Plumbing Sup- pliers Association, a member of the United States Inventors Society, with which he held two plumbing patents, a member of Knollwood Coun- try Club and Temple Israel. Isadore Raymond Starr, an attorney and active member of Lubavitch, died Jan. 12. He was 88. Mr. Starr, of Oak Park, for years was president of Con- gregation Mishkan Israel Nusach Hari. From 1943 to 1945, Mr. Starr was president of the Pisgah Lodge of B'nai B'rith, the first man to serve as president for two terms. He also served as president of the Greater Detroit B'nai B'rith Council. Following World War I, Mr. Starr was active in Jewish Russian War Relief. A graduate of Detroit Col- lege of Law, Mr. Starr practic- ed law in Detroit for over 60 years. As a youth, he was an outstanding athlete, playing professional baseball for one year after college. Mr. Starr is survived by his wife, Esther; a son, Theodore Starr of Southfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurens and Judith Ruben of Oregon; a brother, Harry of Southfield; five grandchildren and three great-grand- children. Eli C. Goldin Eli C. Goldin, a long time Jewish activist of Windsor, owner of Lazare's Furs in Windsor, died Jan. 12. He was 91. Born in Russia, Mr. Goldin moved to Montreal in 1923 at age 25 and worked in a fur manufacturing and retailing factory. He bought the Wind- sor business in 1936. He was active in a number of organizations and charities. In 1962, Mr. Goldin received a medal from Pope John XXIII for his humanitarian work. The Jewish community honored him with a special dinner on his 80th birthday. The Jewish National Fund gave him a plaque recogniz- ing his contributions to Israel.
