ing courses in arts, crafts, film
and fiction; Halacha; Hebrew;
history and politics; Jewish
family and home; Judaism;
laws, customs, holidays, life
cycles; philosophy/ethics; pro-
phets; Talmud; Torah; and
Yiddish.
To join, participants pledge
a minimum of 18 hours per
year in a Jewish course of
study. The program has 207
Orthodox, Conservative and
Reform participants.

Aish HaTorah
Plans Courses

Aish HaTorah will start a
new Lunch and Learn 12 to 1
p.m. Jan. 22 at McCaffrey's
Office Products, Livonia. A
deli lunch will be provided.
Rabbi Tolwin, Aish
HaTorah's educational direc-
tor, will teach the program.
Aish HaTorah/Aleynu has
set early March for the Crash
Course Follow-up at the Aish
Hatorah offices. The course,
open to Hebrew Crash Course
graduates and others who
need to improve their Hebrew
skills, will focus on how and
what to pray. Basic reading
Hebrew reading skills are re-
quired for this class.
Participants will learn to
follow in the prayer book on
Sabbath and holidays, the
order and structure of the
prayer services and the mean-
ings behind many of the
prayers. The class will be
taught by Dr. Richard
Schwartz.
For those who want to learn
to read Hebrew from Aleph to
Taf, Aish HaTorah/Aleynu
will be running Hebrew
Crash Courses at various
locations in the northwest
suburban area in early
March. For information, call
