The food's good, but over-priced. The food's o.k., but the place is too far. The food and music are lousy. The service is horrible. Last week I ran out of excuses." 3624262 I GIVE US A TEST! This wasn't the case for young Michael Brent Koffron, whose parents, Paulette and Robert Koffron, made certain it was his party at Somerset Inn's beautiful ballroom, W. Big Beaver in Troy. Two dinners . . . one served to adults . . . and a sumptuous buffet table for Mike and his friends made the evening one for all to enjoy . . . Even a Fenby-Stein group played music for all ages . . . and didn't neglect danceables to accommodate the youngsters . . . While the band took a couple of breaks, Mike's guys 'n gals bent under the limbo pole to recorded music. Wall above buffet table had neon sign, "Mike's Ski Lodge" . . . and centerpieces at tables had skiing poles. Whoever did the decorating can take credit for a master- ful job . . . The elegance of Somerset Inn's ballroom is such that deserves simplicity so as not to take away from its very lovely decor . . . easily one of the finest around. Paul and Florence Boraks' daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ira Levy, were still at Metro Airport waiting for their charter plane to be okayed for flight to Acapulco . . . Word came that the plan would finally take off at 8 p.m. . . . A bit reminiscent of Paul and Florence going to Las Vegas on 50th anniver- sary over five years ago .. . Their plane set for 9 a.m. didn't leave until 9 p.m. or thereabouts that evening. Hora danced by many as Mike was carried about on a chair much like the bride and groom at an Orthodox wed- ding . . . Mother Paulette do- ing her Tina Turner impres- sion backed by hubby Bob and mom Marion Grant as Aunt Loretta joined in the dance. Belle Robinson, Mike's great-great aunt looking so good . . . Steve Fisher, bossman at AAA Produc- tions, helping friend Barry Grant, Mike's uncle, with the video taking . . . Still photog Chuck Lieberman getting smiles without cheese . . . Elmer and Hilda Raskin look- ing younger . . . Dr. Felix Rosenwach and Lillian Hirschfield a regular item of togetherness. Another chapter in the ac- complishments of Mike's grandparents Marion and Jay as they ride the rapids of life with happiness and sorrow. Very good food and service . . . both Judy Frankel trade- markss at Somerset Inn .. . and a sweet table that takes a back seat to very few. So many strange faces at a family affair . . . Could count those at the Raskin table on Both the young and the adults had an enjoyable time. one hand as another arm of the clan had a simcha . . . But a real good time had by all .. . Evening before, Michael read from the Torah at Temple Shir Shalom and sent the usual chills down many backs as he gave a perfect perfor- mance upon entrance into manhood. CONGRATS . . . to Gary Schwartz . . . on his 28th birthday. YUPPY PUPPY machine for $59.95 that lets dogs dispense their own treats? .. . A kitty video with chirping and fluttering birds for $19.95? . . . Both are actual items by Specialty Pup Sup- plies who say University of Michigan and Michigan State University jogging suits, sweaters and caps are also popular items with pup owners. I can just see our dog Coco allowed to take his own treats! CONGRATS . . . to Dolores and Merrill Gordon .. . on their 25th anniversary . . . Four-day celebration of togetherness was in Bal Har- bor, Fla., where Dolores and Merrill spend their winters. SEEING SIGNS . . . at Morrie's Sunoco service sta- tion, 10 Mile and Southfield . . . on one of their tow trucks . . . "Our business is picking up." FIRST OF Alan Teitel's "ins" on his "Teitel's Trends For The 1990's" is World War II nostalgia . . . "The 50th an- niversary of the Big One," says Alan, "brings back into fashion the music and style of the '40s. Women will wear their hair longer and in 'page boys: Short coats, the 'boxy' look, the military and nautical looks in clothing, are the rage, as are khaki, navy, black and bright colors." E
