"Anti-Semitism and the
Hollywood Era of Censorship"
will be the theme of the
eighth annual Adat Shalom
Jewish Film Series 7 p.m.
Jan. 7, 14, and 21.
The series will feature
showings of The Way We Were,
Legacy of the Hollywood
Blacklist and The Front, with
commentary from Dan
Greenberg, film critic and
professor of film.
The Way We Were, starring
Barbra Streisand and Robert
Redford, will be shown Jan. 7.
Streisand and Redford's
romantic involvement moves
from the period of social ac-
tivism in the 1930s to the
political repression of the
1950s.
On Jan. 14, the series will
continue with Legacy of the
Hollywood Blacklist. This
testimony about pain evolv-
ing from political persecution
will be followed by a panel
discussion on the First
Amendment and Anti-
Semitism among Jews.
The programs will conclude
history/appreciation and film-
making at Oakland Com-
munity College. .He writes
two weekly columns, "The
Movies" - and "Video View-
ing" for local papers. He also
appears on "Arts in Review,"
a weekly OCC-TV production
telecast on Oakland County
cable systems.
The community is invited
at no charge.

Greenberg teaches film
Young Israel of Greenfield
will host its annual malava
malkah 8 p.m. Jan. 6. The 25
new members of the con-
gregation will be formally
welcomed at the program,
"The Young Israel Follies."
The evening will include a
series of musical variety pro-
duced by shul members in an
all-male cast. Gourmet
cuisine, prepared by Allan
and Sarina Steinmetz, will be
served.
Chairman for the evening's
event is Dr. Jeffrey Last.
