The bi-weekly column deals with events, services and organizations of interest to the newcomers and is prepared by the Jewish Fed- eration Council of Greater Los Angeles. A year's free subscription was sent to 500 immigrant families last week, reaching about 1,500 readers. It is estimated that there are now between 25,000 to 40,000 Soviet Jews in the Los Angeles area, and bet- ween 25,000 to 30,000 Ira- nian Jews. During the next 12 months, an additional 3,000 Soviet Jews and 700 Iranian Jews are expected to arrive.
