Karbel Sidney J. Karbel, 85, of Southfield, an attorney who devoted years to B'nai B'rith, died Dec. 25. Mr. Karbel was a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School in 1927 and was a member of Law Review. He was captain of the wrestling team at U of M and practiced law for 62 years, working un- til two days before his death. During World War II, he served on the Selective Ser- vice Board. Mr. Karbel was Sidney J. Karbel the founding president of keidan Lodge, a member of B'nai B'rith and past presi- dent of District 6 of B'nai B'rith. He was also on the National Council anti-Defamation league, past president of Tem- ple Beth El frm 1964-1966, a member of the Sinai Hospital Board and active with the Jewish Welfare Federation. Mr. Karbel was a passionate golfer, bridge and poker player. He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Hazel of Huntington Woods; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Alan Fern, of Chevy Chase, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Ruth of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two grandchildren. Ruth Cassel Ruth Cassel, 64, of Southfield, died Dec. 20. Irving Radner Irving Radner, 79, of Bloom- field Hills, an attorney in the Detroit area for 55 years, died Dec. 19. He was a graduate of the University of Detroit law school in 1934, was an analyst for the Wayne Coun- ty Probate Court and was in real estate property management. He leaves his wife, Belle; daughters and sons-in-law, Marge and Marvin Sharon of Huntington Woods, Jane Radner and Daniel Greenberg of East Lansing, Cathy Radner and Russell Linden of Birmingham; a sister, Helen Resnick of Southfield; and three grandchildren. Shirley L. Hertz Shirley L. Hertz, 66, of Southfield, died Dec. 25.
