Pistons Win Title
In Four Overtimes

the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center.
With one second left in the
overtime, Tony Jenkins's
turnaround jumper bounded
into teammate Rosen's arms
for the -winning layup. The
game went into the fourth
extra period on a three-
pointer by Mumford player-
coach Billy Berris.
Jenkins led the Roger
Lesser-coached Pistons with
26 points, while Mumford's
Dave Baxter led all scorers
with 31 points.

munity Center varsity
basketball team is unbeaten
after the first five games of
the season.
Detroit defeated Toledo,
50-47, and walloped Wind-
sor, 92-67, in its most recent
games to put its record at
5-0.
Matt Frankel's two free
throws sealed the victory in
the Toledo game at the
Maple-Drake building. Joe
Hurshe led Detroit with 18
points while Mark
Greenstone had 14.
At Windsor, Hurshe
poured in 37, including 24 in
the second half, while Brian
Schwartz with 14, Matt
Frankel, 12, and Corey
Padolski and Daren Bowie
with 10 each rounded out the
double-digit scorers for the
visitors.
Bershad Cagers'
Reunion Nearing
Registrations are being ac-
cepted until Jan. 22 for the
25-year reunion of alumni of
Barry Bershad's Jewish
Community Center boys
varsity basketball teams.
The reunion of players
from 1963-89, scheduled for
7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Maple-
Drake building, will feature
a round-robin tournament,
with players grouped in five-
year blocks, and a 3-point
field goal contest.
Bershad is now in his 25th
consecutive year as vol-
unteer coach of the boys var-
sity program.
Memorabilia such as
tourney programs and
photographs are being
sought for a display at the
JCC and a plaque com-
memorating the 25 teams
will be displayed in the
physical education depart-
ment's showcase.
There is a donation for the
reunion. Proceeds will
benefit future youth basket-
ball programs. For informa-

Lash And Son
Shine In Bowling
Jerry Lash, who recorded a
678 series recently in the
Senior House League at
BelAire Lanes, saw his 10-
year-old son Ryan roll a 216
game in the Adult-Youth
League at the same lanes
the same week. Ted
Goldberg's 678 series topped
the Seniors.
Among the seniors at
Plum Hollow Lanes, Pauline
Goodstein recorded her all-
time best scores, a 189 game
and 481 series, in the Friday
Seniors League while Hy
Goldstein hit for a 200 game
and 548 series. Norm
Tikulin, 74, rolled a 509
series and Lou Segal, 79,
chalked up a 230 game and
565 series. In the Monday
Senior Citizens League, Iz
Katz, 82, notched a 213
game and 544 series while
Al Perlin, 69, tallied a 221
and 577.
Hal Lublin scored a 254
game in the Sunday morn-
ing Interlodge Masonic
League at Plum Hollow.
Baseman Bowls
1st Perfect Game
Dave Baseman, a com-
puter programmer from
Farmington Hills, came up
with all the right digits re-
cently when he bowled his
first 300 game.
Baseman strung 12 con-
secutive strikes in the
Suburban Athletic Club
League at West Bloomfield
Lanes. Baseman is league
secretary.
