I

t was a fun evening
. . . and the cause bene-
fited from attendance by
about 350 at Radisson Plaza
Hotel.
Was second annual
celebrity-personality fashion
show by Haven (Help Against
Violent Encounters Now),
Oakland County's shelter for
victims of domestic violence
and sexual abuse.
Music for listening and dan-
cing was by Mel Ball and Col-
ours . . . Cocktails and dinner
preceded . Linda Dresner
fashion show that took a
backseat to her models .. .
local personalities.
Those in the audience who
could see were more in-
terested in the folks walking
than what they had on .. .
That is except for Doreen and
Dave Hermelin, who were on
the runway dressed like going
to a costume ball.
Bet no one can tell now
what Pistons' Vinnie
Johnson was wearing, or John
Salley, or Isiah Thomas' wife
Lynn or Carmen Harlan, or
Rich Fisher, or Sherry
Margolis, or Don Shane, etc.
Reva Kogan walked like a
model should and displayed a
lot of poised professinalism
. . Event was chaired by
Susan and Bob Sosnick with
newscaster Diana Lewis and
sportscaster Eli Zaret at least
trying in their efforts as
mistress and master of
ceremonies.
How absolutely wonderful
it was to see Ruth Sosnick
again . . . Bobby Sosnick and
Phyllis Satovsky's mom has
always been one of my
favorite gals.
All funds went to help
Haven provide shelter and
services for victims of rape,
child sexual assault and other
forms of domestic violence.
RECENT 45th birthday
celebration of Linda Sober-
man and Donna Pearlman,
close friends since childhood
and both born on the same
day, was with 120 friends and
family who gathered at
Berkley Masonic Thmple for a
homecoming and sock hop
dance . . . Linda, noted
jewelry designer and wife of
Mercury Paint president
Chuck Soberman, and Don-
na, wife of Alan Pearlman,
owner of Canton China,
dressed as homecoming
queens . . . complete with
their hubbies' high school let-
ter sweaters, I.D. bracelets,
etc . . . Chuck and Alan say

they're great-to-come-home-to
queens also.
KATIE WEISHAUS had
two wishes come true in 1989
. . . One was for a stock
enroute to 5,000 frames at
enlarged and remodeled
Roland Optics in Applegate
Squaie on Northwestern
Hwy. . . . and the other to
become someone's godparent
. . . Recent birth of Janey
Michelle to Shelley and Geof-
frey Gordon made number
two a November reality .. .
with Shelley naming her
sister Katie and brother Jay
Kalinsky for the honor.
50TH WEDDING anniver-
sary surprise party last
month for Mary and Obbie
Goodman was a memory lane
bit . . . Party given at
Renaissance Club by children
Mark and Teri Goodman and

The audience was
more interested in
the celebrity
models than the
fashions.

Gary and Enid Goodman had
160 guests enjoying much
reminiscing while viewing
enlarged photos taken in
1939 of Mary and Obbie.
Room was decorated with a
spectacular lit stage of a
storefront scene showing Sax
SupperClub, Boesky's and
Mrs. Grunt's.
Highlight was wedding
ceremony as Rabbi M. Robert
Syme had them reaffirm their
vows and exchange rings to
accompaniment of his fine
pianist son Dave Syme.

TEDDY BEAR contest by
Loretta Lorion is to benefit
pediatric division at William
Beaumont Hospital . . . Its
sixth year with your special
bears displayed and then
returned to you . . . For every
teddy bear Loretta gets, a
new teddy bear is given to a
child at Beaumont . . . Her
children's shop is in Bloom-
field Plaza, Telegraph and
Maple . . . Panel of judges will
choose cutest, oldest, most
distinguished, etc. . . . (Note:
be sure your name, address
and phone number are on the
teddy bear.)
WHERE THEY ARE .. .
Jimmy Rachleff . . . 1320 Ad-
dison St., Apt. A111,
Berkeley, Calif. 94702 .. .
Jimmy has "come out of
retirement," doing his
"Groucho" bit as in days of
yesteryears . . . He's been
back in the show biz limelight.
