Judaica Fair
In Jerusalem
The Third Jerusalem Inter-
national Judaica Fair will be
held April 1-5 at the Binyanei
Ha'ooma Convention Center
in Jerusalem.
The exhibits will reflect the
diversity in the art and tradi-
tion of Judaica throughout
the past centuries. Chi display
will be hundreds of original
Jewish artistic objects, in-
cluding Holy Land anti-
quities, rare books and
manuscripts, maps, ritual ob-
jects, paintings, antique and
modern ornamental and
religious objects.
Cultural highlights during
the five-day fair will include
a one-day seminar offering an
academic and theoretical
Perspective on the practical
aspects of Judaica. Par-
ticipants will discuss "Art
and Judaica In Our Time?'
Also offered will be a first-
time exhibit of the works of
upcoming graduates from the
Bezalel Academy of Art and
Design.
Sotheby's will present a ma-
jor exhibit featuring antiques,
paintings and other Judaica.
Many independent dealers,
collectors, museum curators,
gallery owners and scholars
from Israel and around the
world are expected to par-
ticipate. Last year, the fair
featured 100 exhibit stands
with participants from the
United States, England, Ita-
ly, Holland and Israel. More
than 15,000 visitors, in-
cluding buyers and the public,
visited the Fair.

NEWS I
Berlin Wall Day
Is Opposed
Bonn (JTA) — An official of
the opposition Social
Democratic Party has warn-
ed against allowing joy over
the opening of the Berlin
Wall to erase the memory of
Jewish suffering during the
Nazi era.
Heinz Putzrath, who
chairs the SPD's committee
of Nazi survivors, spoke out
against proposals to make
Nov. 9, the day the East
German regime opened the
wall, a national holiday in
West Germany.
He pointed out that the
day is the anniversary of the
Kristallnacht — the night of
broken glass — the first
government-sanctioned '
pogrom in Nazi Germany
which occurred on Nov. 9-10,
1938.
