Her new life in Manhattan
will include a full-time job
working for her father's
public relations firm,
Bergert, Henderson,
Schechter, Smith.
"I want to get on with my
life and my work," said
Pollard, who was a public re-
lations professional before
her imprisohment.
Pollard is confined to
Hopper House, located on
the Lower East Side of
Manhattan, from 9 p.m. un-
til 6 a.m. during the week,
and is required to remain
within a 50-mile radius of
the facility at all times. Her
stay at Hopper House will
end in March, when she is
due to be released on parole.

Half-A-Million
Live In Poverty

Jerusalem (JTA) — Close
to a half-million Israelis live
on the poverty line, almost
half of them children, accor-
ding to figures released by
the National Insurance In-
stitute.
Mordechai Zipori, director
general of the institute,
believes nothing can be done
to improve their situation as
long as Israel's economic
stagnation persists.
At the moment, 488,000
Israelis live in what he
termed terrible poverty, and
of that number, 223,000 are
children, he said.
They live on less than
$7.50 a day, compared to the
average Israeli family's ex-
penditures of about $50 a
day.

Two Honored
Posthumously

Geneva (JTA) — Two Fren-
chmen who died in Nazi con-
centration camps for helping
hundreds of Jews cross the
border into neutral
Switzerland during World
War II were honored post-
humously by Israel last
week.
Pinchas Eliav, Israel's
ambassador to the United
Nations in Geneva,
presented the Yad Vashem
Holocaust Memorial Medals
to the surviving relatives of
Joseph Lancon and Francois
Perillat.
The ceremony was held in
Veigy-Fonconex, a village
near the Swiss border, where
Lancon and Perillat lived.
Both were arrested in
February 1944, after they
were denounced by fellow
villagers.
