"We're not ready to move
yet," Blumenberg said about
the Southfield Road con-
gregation. There is no site
plan for a new facility nor
are there any plans to design
one in the immediate future.
"It's going to take some
time," he said.
Although he is watching
what happens to B'nai
Moshe's plans to build a
synagogue, Blumenberg said
it will not affect B'nai
David's decision to go ahead.
"The Lubavitch came out
okay, so who knows," said
Blumenberg, referring to
last week's West Bloomfield
Township decision which
allows the Lubavitch Foun-
dation to build a rabbinical
college, housing and other
facilities on a 40 acre parcel
on Maple Road, west of the
Jewish Community Cam-
pus.

To Start Planning

ithin the next few
months, the
Lubavitch Founda-
tion hopes to launch plans
for a religious retreat on
West Maple Road.
Rabbi Yitschak Kagan
said the foundation bought
the 40.5 acre site a year ago.
Rabbi Kagan said he was
delighted with the West
Bloomfield Township
board's decision to not block
the project.
He expects to start work-
ing with the township plann-
ing department on a site
plan to best preserve the
woodlands and wetlands on
the property, he said. The
foundation must still get site
plan and special use ap-
proval from both the
township planning commis-
sion and board of trustees
before any building can
begin. ❑
