A group of Serbian ac-
tivists seeking support for
their battle against bias in
Yugoslavia and for a project
to build a monument in
Belgrade commemorating
that country's victims of
genocide arrived in
Washington last week.
"The Serbian-Jewish
Friendship Society was
formed in Belgrade about a
year and a half ago," said
Branko Malkovich, the
group's spokesman. "The
aim of the society is to lead a
constant fight against
racism, political discrimina-

Pentagon: Israel
Has No Nukes

Washington (JTA) — The
Pentagon confirmed Nov. 15
that one of its documents
released by a U.S. envi-
ronmental group states that
Israel's Jericho I ballistic
missile could be fitted with
nuclear or chemical
warheads.
But it is inaccurate to say
that the Pentagon believes
Israel possesses such
warheads, said Lt. Col.
Keith Schneider, a Pentagon
spokesman.
The claim was made by the
Washington-based Natural
Resources Defense Council,
which obtained the docu-
ment under the Freedom of
Information Act.
The Natural Resources
Defense Council provided
the Jewish Telegraphic
Agency with various pages
of the report, including the
one discussing the Jericho I
missile.

In Yugoslavia, the group is
about half Jewish. During
the group's visit here, they
participated in the opening
of an American branch,
headquartered in Los
Angeles.

An important aim of both
groups will be to press for
diplomatic ties between
Israel and Yugoslavia, said
Klara Mandic, the secretary
of the organization. The
delegation recently visited
Israel, where they arranged
for exchange programs bet-
ween Serbia and several

Cartoon Is Called
Anti-Arab

When members of Con-
gress return from their
recess, they will find copies
of a cartoon in their
mailboxes, courtesy of the
American-Arab Anti-
Discrimination Committee
(ADC).
The drawing shows a
diagram of an "Arab" brain,
divided into compartments
marked "vengeance,"
"world of fantasy,"
"fanaticism," and "double
talk."
The cartoon was published
in The Near East Report, the
weekly publication of the
American Israel Public Af-
fairs Committee (AIPAC). It
received widespread atten-
tion after a story by
Washington Post columnist
Richard Cohen.
The ADC decided to
distribute the cartoon to
Congress without comment.
An AIPAC spokesman ex-
pressed regret that
"insensitive words and car-
toons appeared in the Near
East Report," and indicated
that officials responsible for
overseeing the publication
had met even before Cohen's
story was published to revise

Berenbaum insisted that
the windfall would not
significantly alter plans for
the Museum. "We -an-
ticipated the opening of the
Soviet Bloc in our design,"
he said. "We made a decision
at the beginning to go after
everything we could ask for.
Now, that broad planning is
paying off."
