RATES AS LOW AS 2.75% Jewish Book Fair In Lansing I I New York (JTA) — So far, the year 5750 is looking up for State of Israel Bonds. The final totals of the recent Rosh Hashanah-Yom Kippur appeals have come in, setting an unprecedented record in subscription sales. According to Sy Syms, na- tional chairman of the Israel Bond- Organization, $68.4 million worth of Israel Bonds were sold in approx- imately 250 communities during the annual high holi- day drive last month. - That sales achievement represents an increase of close to $4 million over last year's results, and a growth from $59.8 million in 1987 and $54.5 million in 1986. In Michigan, commitments to purchase Bonds decreased slightly compared to 1988, but total purchases increas- ed by almost $22,000, accor- ding to Hershel Wais, direc- tor of Israel Bonds of Michigan. As of Oct. 11, Wais's office had received 880 com- mitments totalling $1,583,550, compared to 894 commitments for $1,561,750 in 1988. A
