Celebrate Clarion Hotel Of Farmington Hills hankgiVing Invites You To Join Us For Our just published by Doubleday and dedicated to her mother, Ann Ruth Hurwitz, whom Lewis calls "the first Jewish storyteller in my life, who loves a good tale as much as I do." In writing the book, Lewis explains the reasons behind this labor of love. She notes in the introduction, "Grandpa was a rabbi. So were Uncle Saul and Cousin Moshe. Dad- dy was a professor at Yeshiva University. However, he was also Official Magician for the City of New York, while Mother was one of the music coordinators for the New York City Board of Education. As a child I was far more fascinated by the family's theatricality than by its Jewishness." But times change., And so do people and their priorities. 'Ibday, as a performer, but a wife and mother as well, Lewis has embraced her Jewishness and intends to put it into a format that others could enjoy as well. "My Jewishness remains with me," Lewis notes, "main- ly in my sense of community. The sense of extended family is tremendous, and • for somebody who • travels as much as I do, that's really very nice. Whenever. I have been in places where I have had problems of one sort or another, I've turned to members of the Jewish' com- munity, knowing-that I would always get the help I needed." In addition to her writings, Lewis' musical education has also provided a welcome addi- tion to her professional life. She has taken the baton and' performed with and con- ducted more than 100 sym- phony orchestras around the world, including the National Symphony in Washington, D.C., the Atlanta and Pitts- burgh symphonies, many of Canada's major orchestras and the National Symphony in Osaka, Japan. - Looking back, Lewis admits she's a "clutch ball player" who rather enjoys the very highs that come with the theatrical territory. "They're the ones worth getting up for in the morning. "My happiest moments," Lewis admits, "are when young parents, who watched Lambchop and me when they were kids, come up after a show and say, 'I'm so happy to be able to share my childhood with my own children thanks to you.' ❑ FIRST ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DAY BRUNCHiBUFFET In Our Beautiful Ballroom, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. • Carved Roast Ttirkey with stuffing • Baked Ham with raisin sauce • Beef Tips with mushrooms • Mashed Potatoes • Acorn Squash • Fresh Vegetables • Assorted Salads • Bread Display • Assorted Juices • Assorted Desserts/Pastries • Fruit Blintzes _1 3 Adults 7 $ 795 ?Under FREE 3 & Under 10% Discount Senior Citizens • Cocktails Available • 110, Clarion Hotel For reservations; call 313/553-0000 Between 9 am and 9 pm 31525 Twelve Mile Road Farmington Hills, Michigan 48018 lireff,11111111111111111111.1M6 Jane with Jacques Demers Enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with Red Wing coach Jacques Demers at his restaurant in the Atrium of Embassy Suites Hotel — Southfield.
