In 1987, Gluckman decid- ed to move on. She joined another community theater group, Stagecrafters, in Royal Oak, and has per- formed in a handful of its productions: The Foreigner, Amadeus, Talking With .. . and Move Over, Mrs. Markham. In addition to acting, Gluckman is a poet and musician. "Over the past decade, I've had about a half a dozen poetry pieces published. And in 1986, my husband and I were in a band together for a year; he's a drummer, and I play the keyboards." Gluckman appeared this summer in her first musical, Kip Synatra's Musical Mobile, a Memorial, a review I "When she's on that stage, I just have the chills go through my spine. She's incredibly believable, and you forget she's acting." 1 about the "Sinatra" who never made it as an enter- tainer. Although she enjoyed performing in the musical, she prefers acting in com- edies. "Acting in a musical is not my thing. I definitely feel that comedy is my flare. However, I think performing in a comedy is harder than acting in a drama because you have to win the audience in such a way," Gluckman said. Her husband, who is an interior designer by day and musician by night, believes his wife has a knack for comedy. "Marjorie is funny," he said. "She has the perfect comedic timing; that's her strong suit:" As an actress, Gluckman has captured the hearts of many theatergoers, in- cluding Lori Zusman, an Oak Park elementary school teacher. "When she's on that stage, I just have the chills go through my spine," Zusman said. "She's incredibly believable, and you forget she's acting. Marjorie just shines in all her roles."
