Tel Aviv (JTA) — Police
last week revealed the iden-
tity of a multi-murder
suspect, after a week-long
ban on publicity apparently
brought them no closer to
apprehending him.
Photographs and descrip-
tions of Mohammed Ben-
Ahmed Halabi, 32, of the
Jabalya refugee camp in
Gaza appeared in the media.
He is believed to have
killed seven people, Arabs
and Jews, in what police
believe were drug-related
murders.
The police announced that
they have the suspect's
brother in custody. They
said he was implicated but
was not the murderer.

Israeli Film
Wins In Spain

Madrid (JTA) — An Israeli
film, Hakayitz shel Aviya
(Aviya's Summer), won first
prize at the International
Film Festival in Valladolid
on Monday.
The movie, which stars 12-
year-old actress Kaipo
Cohen, was runner up at the
Berlin Film Festival last
February.
The story, based on the ex-
periences of Gila Almagor,
who wrote the script and
played a featured role in the
movie, is about a child raised
by a mother who is deeply af-
fected by her Holocaust ex-
periences and becomes men-
tally ill.
It is the first time an
Israeli movie has been given
wide public exposure in
Spain.

Israeli Team
Edged For Spot

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israel's
national soccer team
narrowly failed to qualify for
the World Cup games in
Rome next year, but they
thrilled millions of fans
nevertheless by holding the
vaunted Colombian team to
a 0-0 draw at Ramat Gan
Stadium on Monday.
The game was a rematch
between the two teams, the
Colombian 11 having beaten
Israel 1-0 in Colombia two
weeks ago. That left Israel
behind its rival in overall
points, which its players
were unable to recoup.
The tie was next best to
victory for the 50,000 fans
who jammed the stadium,
and the Israeli television
audience estimated as high
as a million.
