Accuses Firm
Madrid (JTA) — An Israeli
firm competing for multi-
million-dollar secarity con-
tracts in Spain has been
accused by the Spanish news
media of association with
Israel's secret intelligence
organization, Mosi?ad.
The company, Interna-
tional Consultants on
Targeted. Security, is one of
several local ad.
uj interna-
tional firms bidding for
security work at. the 1992
Olympic Games • in
Barcelona and Ex -92, an
international exposition to
be held in Seville.
The daily El Pai43, publish-
ed several articles hi recent
weeks purporting to expose
ICTS links with covert ac-
tivities.
The newspaper's cor-
respondent in Israel inter-
viewed an ICTS vice presi-
dent, Moshe Lan, who had a
hard time explaining why
the company is not
117 registered in Spain, yet its
representatives circulate
Visitors' cards with Spanish
addresses.
But Lan defended ICTS
involvement in the Spanish
market, and denied it had
any contacts with Mossad or
the Israeli government.
Official Blames
Israel, Saudis
Washington (JTA) — Israel
and Saudi Arabia came
under fire from a senior
State Department official,
who criticized them for
destabilizing the Middle
East by acquiring advanced
missile capabilities.
But the official, Richard
Clarke, told Congress that it
would be wrong for the
United States to require
either country to destroy
missiles as a condition for
receiving U.S. arms
shipments.
Clarke, who is assistant
secretary of state for politico-
military affairs, was asked
about such linkage during a
hearing on the Bush ad-
ministration's proposed $3.1
billion sale of 315 Ml-A2
Abrams tanks to Saudi
Arabia, which would also
receive support equipment
and training services.
Clarke said that Saudi ac-
quisition of Chinese CSS-2
missiles last year was
destabilizing, but added, "It
would be more destabilizing
to the Middle East if the
United States terminated its
military relationship with
Saudi Arabia."
