Introducing A 'Truly Unique
Diamond Necklace
That's Very Becoming.

It Becomes This...

alleged mistreatment of
Palestinians in the ter-
ritories. How often can the
same song be played without
losing its impact?
Indeed, the overall
credibility of the consulate
has come to be questioned by
some administration offi-
cials.
The news reports of
Israel's ties with South
Africa also apparently have
not had much of an effect on
the administration.
There is, in addition, little
interest in the latest
U.S.-Israeli strategic coop-
eration talks which conven-
ed in early November at the
Strategic Air Command
(SAC) Headquarters in
Omaha, Nebraska.
Getting some movement in
the peace process, it seems,
is the only real game in town
for senior administration
policymakers.
In the meanwhile, though,
Israeli officials in the United
States increasingly are feel-
ing the heat — not only from
the administration, but from
much of the Americans news
media as well. Pressure is
mounting on Israel to come
to terms with the PLO even
if it is couched in even-
handed language. The con-
cept of an Israeli-PLO dia-
logue is appealing.
In a lead editorial on Nov.
8, USA Today said "Israel
must accept the idea of a
Palestinian homeland as
crucial to any permanent
solution to the strife in that
region" and the "PLO must
go beyond renouncing ter-
rorism and stop committing
terrorist acts — against
Israelis, against moderate
Palestinians, against the
USA."
Other newspaper edito-
rials across the country have
offered similar advice. ❑
