Jeffrey Gutman,
Scott Turbow

Jeffrey Gutman, son of
Barbara and Edward Gut-
man, and Scott Turbow, son
of Heidi and Melvin Turbow,
twinned their b'nai mitzvah
at Adat Shalom Synagogue
with Daniel Shalumov of
Derbent in the Soviet Union.
Danil is the son of Lizaveta
and Vyacheslav Shalumov.
The family first applied for
permission to emigrate in
June 1974. They were refus-
ed on grounds that
Vyacheslav Shalumov had
served in the military.

Alan Lichtman

and Hilda Alspector. Family
from Toronto and California
participated in the simchah.
Genri is the son of Rozalia
and 'Chaim Gelb the brother
of Robert. The family first
applied for exit visas in
1977; they were refused for
unknown reasons. David has
written Genri, but all his
correspondence has been
returned unopened.

Mindy Markowitz

Mindy Markowitz,
daughter of Nadine and
Jerry Markowitz, twinned
her bat mitzvah at Adat
Shalom Synagogue with
Mariya Daykhovskaya,
daughter of Tamara
Daykhovskaya of Kiev in
the Soviet Union.
Mariya and her mother
first applied for permission
to emigrate in February
1981. They were refused for
unknown reasons.
Mindy has written Mariya
and will try to reach her by
phone.

Susie Kline

Susan Nicole Kline,
daughter of Elissa and
Daniel Kline and grand-
daughter of Ruth and Her-
man Kass and Naomi and
Bernard Kline, twinned her
bat mitzvah at Temple Israel
with Ayzelinka Zekster of
the Ukraine.
Ayzelinka's parents are
both dentists. They first ap-
plied for a visa in 1983 and
