Moslems Kept
From Auction

Jerusalem (JTA) — The
Islamic religious leader of
Jerusalem issued a ban
Sunday on the purchase of
property confiscated by the
Israel Defense Forces from
residents of Beit Sahur in
the West Bank.
Sheikh Said Adin el-
Alami, the mufti of
Jerusalem, forbade Moslems
to bid on articles that will be
auctioned from a customs
warehouse at Ben-Gurion
Airport.
Most of Beit Sahur's
residents are Christian
Palestinians.
The IDF seized the mer-
chandise and personal
possessions in lieu of taxes,
which Beit Sahur merchants
and most other residents
refused to pay.
In a decree published in
the Israeli press, the mufti
said that an Arab who
bought any of the items
would be acting as though he
had robbed his own brother.

PFLP Claiming
It Blew Up Boat

Tel Aviv (JTA) — An ex-
plosive-laden fishing boat
blew up off the southern
Lebanese coast Monday
night, injuring an Israeli
navy seaman nearby and
killing a Palestinian ter-
rorist aboard.
Two other Israeli seamen
suffered minor scratches.
The incident appears to
have been the first suicide
bombing at sea. It emulated
the frequent car-bomb at-
tacks on Israeli troops in
southern Lebanon in recent
years.
In Beirut, the Popular
Front for the Liberation of
Palestine, a hard-line
Palestine Liberation
Organization faction headed
by George Habash, claimed
credit for the incident Tues-
day.
