their home. Instead, the
children would give a part of
themselves for Klal Yisrael.
"I turned to politics and
education to try to help in
some very small way," she
says.
Cannon remembers from
her research a part of history
she will use to marshal sup-
port for her causes.
Abraham held high the
shofar as the Jewish people
began to liberate. It was the
beginning of political con-
sciousness.
"We are a shofar," Cannon
says. "We are the voice of
Tikkun Olam"(improving
the world). ❑

Federation
Plans Telethons

The Koach section of the
Jewish Welfare Federation's
Women's Division will invite
Allied Jewish Campaign con-
tributors to pledge "A Dollar
a Day" at a telethon Sunday,
Nov. 19, 9 a.m.-noon, and
Monday, Nov. 27, 6-9 p.m.
Prospective donors to the
1990 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign will be asked to pledge
at least $365.
Those meeting the pledge
goal will be invited to a
Dec. 6 luncheon at the home
of Amy Fisher, where award-
winning actress Rosina Fer-
nhoff will perform.
In conjunction with the
Koach telethon, the Business
and Professional Women's
Division will be soliciting its
colleagues.

Temple Israel
Theater Tour

Temple Israel Sisterhood
will sponsor a "Day at the
Fox" 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at the
Fox Theater. There will be a
guided tour of the renovated
theatre and a lunch at the
"On Stage" restaurant.
