Despite concerns about the high-handedness of the event's major planner, the National Organization for Women, pro-choice activists here seem confident that the event will contribute to the emerging pro-choice trend across the country. The event involves ac- tivities in dozens of cities and towns across the coun- try, along with the march in Washington. In Missouri, Jewish organizations, led by the National Council of Jewish Women, are leading a march on the state capital; in California, Jewish women from a number of groups are participating in a symbolic collection of keys, intended to tell state legislators that abortion remains the "key" issue of the late 1980s. In Washington, more than a half-dozen Jewish organizations have endorsed the rally. Anthony Beilenson, D- Calif., both of whom serve on the board of SPNI's American support group. Sagi also huddled with offi- cials of the Environmental Protection Agency. He was scheduled to discuss the environment devastation wrought by re- cent forest fires in Israel — and to garner American support for the re-foresting effort.
