provide a comfortable environment for
them."
Other businesses agree that the
suites should be used only for
business purposes. WLLZ radio is one
of the few radio stations with a suite;
theirs is on the penthouse level. It is us-
ed only for client entertaining. Julie
Adell Verona, a WLLZ account ex-
ecutive, says, "If we do not utilize it for
business, it will not pay for itself. And
entertaining there helps my business
because it brings down the barriers; I
get to know my clients as people."
Another corporate spokesman con-
curs. "It is very convenient for business
because it is an easy, low-hassle enter-
tainment. The tickets are there. You
don't have to hassle with bathrooms,
food or even parking. It's nice to have
your own waitress. My guests feel
taken of."
Meadowbrook Insurance Group of
Southfield shares a first level suite with
MNP Products in Utica. Their suite is
also primarily used for business. Bever-
ly Segal, wife of Meadowbrook's CEO
Merton Segal, says, "If I want to see
something, I have to call Mert's
secretary!"
Their suite is simpler, but just as at-
tractive and inviting. A mushroom-
colored tweed sofa is flanked by three
tapestry chairs and rests on muted
mushroom-colored carpeting. Purple,
fuchsia, green and gold paisley pillows
add color and interest, as does a con-
temporary handmade paper painting
above the sofa. A framed, signed Isiah
Thomas jersey provides a focal point
behind the gray formica buffet.
All of the suites have an area for a
buffet server and cabinetry for a bar,
refrigerator and a TV. All have private
bathrooms and a telephone. Exterior
to each suite are twelve to fourteen
seats for stadium viewing. The Segals'
suite also has a table ledge and 6 ex-
tra seats behind the ledge, as do many
suites. Each suiteholder is provided
with twelve to fourteen tickets to every
single events at The Palace.
While some suiteholders chose to
customize their suites at great addi-
tional expense, a majority opted for the
decorator package which was includ-
ed in their lease price. The Palace
hired Contract Interiors of Southfield to
work with the individual suiteholders
on everything from wall treatments,
cabinetry, floor treatments, to furniture,
furniture layouts and accessories.
