Women, Change
Institute Topics

"The Jewish Women's
Agenda for the '90's . . . The
Time Is Now" is the theme of
the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion Women's Division's 42nd
Annual Institute, Wednesday
and Thursday at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek. -
Featured speaker will be
Dr. Ellen Cannon, a national-
ly recognized political consul-
tant and an authority on
American public policy who
was recently appointed to the
executive board of the Inter-
national Jewish Women's
Network.
On Wednesday, Dr. Cannon
will speak on the topic
of "Empowering Jewish
Women." The program begins
at 7:15 p.m. There is a charge.
Dr. Cannon will speak 9:30
a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Thursday on
"Organizing for Social
Change." A continental
breakfast and lunch is includ-
ed. There is a fee.
Preceeding Wednesday
evening's program will be a
special Business and Profes-
sional Women's Division din-

LOX AND ONION APPETIZERS

1 /2 cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
2 tablespoons cornmeal
5 eggs, beaten
2 8-oz. cans refrigerated crescent
dinner rolls
1 /3 cup milk
11/2 cups chopped onion
1 /4 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon Parkay margarine
11/2 cups (6 ozs.) 100% natural Kraft
shredded Swiss cheese •
1 /4 lb lox, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
Sprinkle cornmeal on greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch jelly roll pan. Unroll dough;
press onto bottom and sides of pan to form crust, sealing perforation.
Saute onion in margarine 5 to 8 minutes or until tender.
Blend together onion and remaining ingredients. Pour evenly over crust.
Bake at 375° for 22 to 25 minutes or until set and
lightly browned. Cut into small squares or
triangles; serve warm. 3 dozen.
Prep time: 20 minutes Cooking time: 25 minutes

Musical Series

The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, will offer a
music study group series on
Tuesdays, Oct. 31, Nov. 7 and

Congregation B'nai Moshe
Sisterhood will present a
fashion show by Ms. Threads

wears to meetings and ser-
vices."

will go to the Mathilda
Schechter Residence Hall of

JNF's Jacobson
Speaks At Donor

The Women of Jewish Na-
tional Fund will hold their
60th annual donor event noon
Nov. 28 at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek. This event will be the

ment to raise $225,000 to pur-
chase a 3,000 liter fire engine
for Israel.
Guest speaker will be
Charlotte Jacobson, treasurer
and honorary president of the
Jewish National Fund of
America. She previously serv-
ed as the first woman presi-
dent of JNF.

Meets Nov. 6

The Hadassah Yiddish
