the University of Michigan
and the Jewish Community
Center of Washtenaw Coun-

Celebration of Jewish Arts
and Writers Series beginn-
ing Saturday at Hillel.
This year's line-up in-
cludes music that captures
Jewish culture of both
European and Middle
Eastern Jewry.
The Maxwell Street
Klezmer Band from Chicago
will perform 8:15 p.m. Sat-
urday. Other appearances
include: Nov. 14; Jerome
Badanes, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16;
Voice of the Turtle quartet, 8
p.m. Feb. 3; Leonard Fein,
7:30 p.m. Feb. 20; Claudia
Stevens, 7:30 p.m. March 18;
Ethan Canin, 7:30 p.m.; and
Adrienne Rich, 7:30 p.m.

City of Hope's local Helen
Rosenberg Cancer Fighters
Chapter will sponsor
"Glamorama Fashion
Extravaganza" 10 a.m. Sun-
day at Adat Shalom.
The day will include
boutique holiday shopping. a
luncheon and a fashion show
produced by Leah Marks.

Young Musicians
Competition Is Set

The entry deadline for the
1990 Annual Michigan
Young Musicians Competi-
tion is Dec. 4. Piano, violin
and cello students grade 7
through 12 will compete Feb.
4 at the Jewish Conirnunity
Center in West Bloomfield.
A winners concert will be
held May 2, when a $2,000
prize will be awarded.
