fallen on my rear. My wrist
bothers me, but that's the
only physical problem."
Now training at the
Livonia home of Bud Char-
niga, a nationally known
lifter and national weightlif-
ting association board
member, Nichol has at least
two incentives to keep train-
ing: the Mid-America
Weightlifting Competition
in Chicago in December (she
placed third last year there)
and the 1990 U.S. Nationals,
which will be next April in
Farmington Hills.
Nichol has very good
strength potential, said
Charniga, but she will need
to work on her elasticity and
mental readiness to place
among the top three nation-
ally, he said.
Nichol said she's never
shirked from a challenge. "I
enjoy it (weightlifting). I
wouldn't do it if I didn't en-
joy it; it's too difficult, too
time-consuming, and there's
no fame and fortune in-
volved in being the best."
