,Gurwin, who has been a pro-
fessional actress since the
age of 17, now plans to be on
stage only once a year. She
said that with professionals
like Bush, Zatkin and
George on her staff, she can
afford to relax and try other
endeavors.
"I think I need to do other
things. I'm starting to teach
musical theater and write
musical reviews," she said.
Gurwin appeared in several
hundred productions, both in
Detroit and New York,
where she performed Off-
Broadway and graduated
from Neighborhood
Playhouse School of Theater,
a two-year intense theater
program.
She admitted: "Now, I'm
fulfilling all of the things
I've always wanted to do in
the theater, but really didn't
have time to do. It's kind of
exciting to put on some other
shoes." D

Slates Concert
The Lyric Chamber
Ensemble will perform a
Viennese concert 3:30 p.m.
Sunday at the Edsel and
Eleanor Ford House in
Grosse Pointe Shores.
Fedora Horowitz is the
ensemble's pianist and ar-
tistic director and has ap-
peared at New York's Lin-
coln Center and Merkin Hall
as well as with local sym-
phonies and chamber
groups.
